Summary / Resumen
As part of recovery efforts to address the damages caused by Hurricane Maria, the Catholic Church applied for and was awarded funding from FEMA’s Public Assistance program (“FEMA PA”) to help finance the restoration and protection of approximately 490 Church-owned facilities across Puerto Rico. The Archdiocese of San Juan, and the Dioceses of Arecibo, Caguas, and Fajardo-Humacao (each, a “Church Entity”) entered into separate agreements with Puerto Rico’s Central Office of Recovery, Reconstruction and Resiliency which define the terms and conditions under which each Church Entity will use the Federal Assistance awarded by FEMA in connection with FEMA Disasters EM-3384 and DR-4339.
